I’m Mallelin Bolufe-Chavez, originally from Havana, Cuba, and I’ve been lucky to be part of the Emphasys family for the past seven years.
My journey at Emphasys has been full of learning, challenges, and great opportunities. I started as a SQL Performance Developer, then had the chance to be part of the Architecture Team, moved into APIs, and now I have the privilege of leading API/Mobile Development. Each step has helped me grow, not only as a developer, but also as a teammate and a person.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing how much our APIs and Mobile apps have grown over the years. We have built many APIs, improved existing solutions, and given our mobile products the attention and care they needed. Seeing these products evolve and knowing they help make people’s work easier has been incredibly rewarding.
What makes this journey even more special is seeing how much our team has grown along the way. I truly believe that better products come from people who are constantly learning, supporting each other, and pushing themselves to improve. Watching my teammates gain confidence, overcome challenges, share their knowledge, and grow together has been one of the most rewarding parts of my experience at Emphasys. The growth of our people has been a big part of the reason we have been able to create better solutions and continue moving forward as a team.
The thing I love most about Emphasys is the people. I’m surrounded by talented, kind, and supportive colleagues, and I really appreciate the opportunity to work with such amazing people. Being able to help someone, whether it’s with a technical challenge or just sharing what I’ve learned, is one of my favorite parts of my job.
Outside of work, my favorite role is being a mom to my eight-year-old daughter. I love traveling, planning trips (sometimes planning is almost as fun as the trip itself!), discovering new places, and relaxing with a good TV series.

- Most used app on your phone? Lately, it’s ChatGPT! Artificial intelligence has become a big part of my daily life. I love exploring how technology can help me learn, solve problems, find inspiration, and make everyday tasks easier.
- If you had an extra hour every day, what would you do with it? I would definitely spend it with my family because, for me, family always comes first.
- The zombie apocalypse is coming; who are three people you want on your team? I would pick The Rock for strength and protection, MacGyver because he can build or fix almost anything, and Hermione Granger because of her intelligence, creativity, and great problem-solving skills. Surviving a zombie apocalypse requires more than muscle; it requires creativity, teamwork, quick thinking, and a good sense of humor!
- Favorite ice cream flavor? Almond! I love the creamy texture and that little nutty flavor that makes it feel like the perfect treat.
